Dear Honourable Members of Parliament,
We, sons and daughters of Solomon Islands, of many parties and many islands, ask you to support Prime Minister Matthew Wale and to VOTE NO on this motion of no-confidence.
Our land is not only soil. It is the place of our ancestors, our gardens, our rivers, our children yet unborn. For too long the forest has been taken while the village is left with stumps and silt. For too long money has moved in the dark while ordinary families carry the cost.
In only a few months, this Prime Minister has moved to confront that pattern: to root out corruption, to protect forest and land, and to bring investment that can lift the whole country, not only a few.
We are proud of that start.
We do not have a government by committee when the trees are falling. A Prime Minister does not need permission from those who benefit from the old way in order to stop the old way. He needs room to lead.
This motion comes too soon. It pulls our leader home from the Pacific table where he was to speak for all of us. It puts shame on the nation before our neighbours. It risks putting us back on the path we already know: instability, deal-making, and another lost season.
We fear that some who push this motion do not want stopping corruption to be the first work of government.
Honourable Members: you sit in the House for your people, not only for your faction. The land is watching. The churches are watching. The young are watching.
Support the Prime Minister. Support the future of this country. Vote NO on the motion of no-confidence.
